Narnia, awake. Love. Think. Speak. Be walking trees. Be talking beasts. Be divine waters.

So just as I post about Disney’s backing out of Narnia, Walden Media goes and gets Fox to agree to make Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

This is good news. I think.

One reason (as pointed out in the comments of my previous entry) I liked Prince Caspian so much is that it deviated greatly from the book. Voyage of the Dawn Treader, though, is a great book. Possibly the best of the seven. Deviating greatly from will not work as well as it did on Caspian. Deviating greatly from it, in fact, is likely to be a terrible idea.

Now is the time for them to figure this out, and to do it right. They’ve got their cast (and Will Poulter, the kid playing Eustace, is fantastic), a new director, and now financial backing. What’s missing? Oh right… a script.

Prince Caspian played on, made reference to, and built up a lot of heart for Narnia that I don’t think the first film had (Caspian pretended that it did though). Now they have a chance to build on that even more. Let’s hope they’re up to the challenge.
Bear it well, Sons of Adam. Bear it well, Daughters of Eve…

Eustace
”There once was a boy called Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it.”
